Hear from thriving motion designer and wonderful Start Up graduate Tanita, and learn about her journey with TOSH.
Who are you and what is your brand?
I'm Tanita, but most people call me Tee. I am a pixel pusher, key frame cruncher and storyteller, which is also known as a motion designer. I work on a lot of 2D projects and have a huge passion for 3D. My main aim is to add more colour to the world and make people smile. I am currently developing my skills to create live event visuals to enhance people's experiences at live music events, giving them moments they can take away and remember.
Why did you do the Start Up Programme?
I decided to go all in on becoming a freelancer, but I had no idea how to run a business. I was keen to learn how to do it better and successfully. There's lots to learn and it felt a little overwhelming, but I knew I wanted to work for myself. I felt like I needed some help and guidance and I found TOSH and the Start Up Programme. It sounded like the perfect thing to apply for to help me work through the uncertainty and the gaps in my knowledge of running a business.
What did you gain?
I gained a huge amount throughout the programme. I developed a plan and structure to move forward, found confidence in my abilities and learned skills to run a business. It gave me time to think about what I really wanted to achieve and what direction I wanted to go in. The programme gave me confidence in myself, a sense of focus and it put me on the right path. With the guidance of TOSH, I have been able to access grants and develop my career. These stepping stones have helped get me to where I am today and I am so excited to continue growing as a creative person. I’m thrilled to have been a part of the Start Up programme, not only was the business side ideal for my professional growth, the connections I made with the others here have been invaluable and I have made some amazing connections. I would do it all again!
To whom would you recommend the programme?
It's for anyone in a creative field who wants to grow, whether that is to have a creative side business or make it their full time work. If you want help and guidance or to figure out your next steps, whether you are already doing it or want to start. If you would love to connect and grow with other people who are looking for the same thing. If you need confidence in your abilities and or confidence in running the business side of a creative pursuit - don't hesitate.
It was one of the best investments I made for myself - the programme and the space has been the catalyst that has allowed me to grow. Thanks TOSH!
