Have you joined us for our weekly Creative Cowork Club yet? FREE every Thursday morning, these 3 hour sessions are a real productivity boost, designed to inspire, encourage, and motivate. Come along with whatever you're working on and achieve new levels of progress, all the while networking with like-minded individuals in our peaceful coworking space!
For now though, some words from our wonderfully talented Cowork Club Host, Ally Clifton of Studio Trevow.
Who are you?
I’m Aless or known to some as Ally. I moved to the sunny South Coast about 9 years ago for a job and soon made Boscombe home. That job saw me progress to Associate Director, managing a team of designers and fitters. I worked on some incredible projects both locally and in London, but last year in search of change and a better work life balance I went self employed. Outside of TOSH and work I'm quite active, I enjoy yoga and love to be outdoors, cycling, hiking, camping or surfing when I can... I also enjoy a night on the sofa with a takeaway!
What brought you to TOSH?
A good friend of mine, Dani, maybe better known as ‘The Soulty Surfer’ had been using the space for some time. I remember attending one of her yoga classes in the hall and falling in love with the building. Dani always talked fondly about her coworkers more like colleagues and having spent time here now I can see why! TOSH has a great sense of community and this was something I’d been missing since going solo, setting up STUDIO TREVOW!
On a nerdy design level I love the space, the pods, the use of materials, screening, dark ceilings and all the plants - I couldn’t have designed it better myself! It actually reminds me of the first art studio I had after graduating uni. I completed an artist's residency at Chapel Arts Studios in Andover so the high ceilings, and arched windows feel familiar.
What are you working on right now?
I’m excited to be working on an incredible local development of 33 apartments on Boscombe Overcliff. It started with specifying kitchens and bathrooms but I’m now working on the show home which should open later this year. I have a few exciting enquiries floating around for other local work but have also been helping a friend with layouts and sourcing for her Coffee shop and Tattoo studio in Newquay -Rolling Joe's Coffee Co.
What do you enjoy most about running the Creative Cowork Club?
Well if you ask any of my friends they know I love to host and try hard to ensure people are looked after, so this combined with the fact I’ve always been crafty/creative means it combines 2 of my favourite things. I love hearing about other people's businesses and passions, I love to chat over coffee with other freelancers, finding parallels or mutual connections and I really appreciate more organic networking opportunities.
