Whether you're sharing it online, in print, or in person, capturing your work is a critical part of an arts career. In this session, led by two experienced creatives - Milly Withers of Blink Lettering and Caroline Beale Johnson - we'll discuss and discover different approaches to photography.
The session will cover both smartphone (accessible and immediate) and digital camera (investment and planning) photography and set up, exploring techniques as well as when, how and why to use each to share your creative work in online and physical contexts. The workshop will feature presentations, as well as hands-on demonstrations and plenty of time for questions and troubleshooting - leaving you with the confidence to take away and try with your own practice.
This session is the first in a series of three OSC workshops on professional arts presentation. Coming soon: Writing about your Creative Work, and Framing your Creative Work!

About the Artists
Blink Lettering
Milly, founder of Blink Lettering, is a calligrapher and stationery content creator based in Bournemouth. She has built her Instagram to an audience of over 86,000, and worked with high-profile art brands, such as Pentel and Winsor & Newton, to create eye-catching social media videos.
Milly also became a published author in 2024, with the release of her book Colourful Modern Calligraphy. As well as writing, she also captured over 150 photos for her book using her iPhone in her simple home studio setup.
Caroline Beale Johnson
Caroline is a Dorset based photographer, educator and social practitioner with extensive experience in a wide range of photography genres - from commercial interiors and product photography to portraiture.
Caroline has exhibited personal project work in London and New York, focusing on storytelling through her imagery. This has resulted in a specialism in the intimate and insightfully sensitive story telling of previously taboo and very sensitive projects.
Caroline is the founder of the Seeking Refuge Project. The Seeking Refuge project began as a collaborative photographic project in 2021, using images and words arising from the lives of refugees and migrants currently seeking asylum and living in Bournemouth. The project now encompasses weekly community workshops, offering space for people to come together, create and share their stories through diverse art forms.
