Event description
Pursuing vigilance in regrowth. Designing for Eutierria with The Vireo Collective X Regenerative Nomads

Eutierria describes the positive feeling of "oneness with the earth and its life forces, where the boundaries between self and nature are obliterated." As artists and designers, they draw inspiration from the ecology of the land to envision processes that reconnect communities with their natural habitats, fostering stewardship, ecological value, and nourishment for all.

Bournemouth is home to many hidden pockets of eutierric spaces, rich in life and beauty, yet many remain under threat and unknown to the people of their locale. The Vireo Collective’s mission is to identify these places and mediate between the needs of the natural environment and the local communities, harmonising both into a shared, sustainable vision. Within the Access BEAF public programme responding to their exhibition ‘Connected Grounds’, The Vireo Collective will share their journey so far—exploring the opportunities and challenges they have encountered across the BCP area, including Talbot Heath and Woods, Holes Bay, and Central Bournemouth—whilst showcasing their creative responses to these environments.

Vireo Collective

Are a group of creatives who take an ecology-first, with a holistic approach to design, education, and art. They believe in the power of symbiosis between communities and ecosystems to enrich the well-being and health of all life. Vireo Collective’s goal is to blur the boundaries between the built and natural environments, reconnecting people with the biodiversity around them and helping them embrace and cherish their role as part of the wild systems on which we all depend.

Regenerative Nomads (ReNo)

Regenerative Nomads (ReNo) is an artist-led initiative grounded in the principles of deep ecology, which acknowledges the intrinsic value of all living beings. ReNo seeks to foster regenerative practices for social change, exploring alternative ways of living that prioritise the creation and preservation of biodiverse environments.

Plants play an active, guiding role in the collective, inviting collaborators to co-create alongside them. The agency of the plants is central to ReNo’s mission—they are dynamic participants shaping each project. With every shift in collaboration, the plants remain constant, leading the way in exploring the interdependence between human and non-human life.

ReNo’s work extends beyond ecological awareness to recognise the rights of all beings and the wellness that comes from living in harmony with the Earth. It advocates for clean, safe environments, access to nutritious food, and the empowerment that comes from ancestral knowledge and collective action. Deep ecology underscores the need for a holistic approach, where the wellness of one is tied to the wellness of all.

At its heart, ReNo embodies unity, collaboration, and community, where human and plant actors co-create regenerative solutions for a sustainable future.

This workshop is a public programme event as part of the Access BEAF Exhibition, 'Connected Grounds'.
