Event description

Join us in a journey through the sacred symbolism and deeper meanings behind the “Nourishing Traditions” installation. In this session, we’ll dive into the correlations between plants, the elements, and the directions of the wheel. Gather around this sacred space as we share stories, tradition, and a guided sensory experience, allowing the plants to speak through the ritual of drinking tea/ or a rose glycerite offering.

No experience is necessary and all materials will be provided.

Please note spaces are limited for this workshop so please make sure you can stay for the duration of the event and let us know in advance if you can no longer make it.

* Suitable for ages 12+ and must be accompanied by an adult

Monica Bonomo

Monica Bonomo, born in Argentina, is an artist and herbalist dedicated to exploring ancestral plant knowledge and ecological concerns. Her evolving practice is embodied in Regenerative Nomads (ReNo), an initiative that reflects her commitment to inclusivity, earth care principles, and regenerative communal practices. While living in Costa Rica, Bonomo experienced a profound connection with the land and its rich biodiversity, which led her to discover herbalism and regenerative practices. ReNo represents a shift from individualism to plurality, emphasising co-creation with plants and community.

Bonomo’s work explores our relationship with plants through botanical crafts like herbal medicine and natural colour exploration. At the heart of her practice is a deep interest in our ever-evolving connection to the Earth. By engaging in environmental activism, she seeks to broaden our understanding of community, acknowledging the intricate, co-evolved relationships that sustain us. She works with organic materials such as natural fibres and plants, often incorporating repurposed and recycled elements. Digital media plays a role in documenting the environments she explores, adding a layered dimension to her work. Drawing inspiration from markets, gardens, and forests, Bonomo aims to preserve traditional knowledge, reveal the living properties of plants, and foster environmental awareness.

Regenerative Nomads (ReNo)

Regenerative Nomads (ReNo) is an artist-led initiative grounded in the principles of deep ecology, which acknowledges the intrinsic value of all living beings. ReNo seeks to foster regenerative practices for social change, exploring alternative ways of living that prioritise the creation and preservation of biodiverse environments.

Plants play an active, guiding role in the collective, inviting collaborators to co-create alongside them. The agency of the plants is central to ReNo’s mission—they are dynamic participants shaping each project. With every shift in collaboration, the plants remain constant, leading the way in exploring the interdependence between human and non-human life.

ReNo’s work extends beyond ecological awareness to recognize the rights of all beings and the wellness that comes from living in harmony with the Earth. It advocates for clean, safe environments, access to nutritious food, and the empowerment that comes from ancestral knowledge and collective action. Deep ecology underscores the need for a holistic approach, where the wellness of one is tied to the wellness of all.

At its heart, ReNo embodies unity, collaboration, and community, where human and plant actors co-create regenerative solutions for a sustainable future.
